Our roof may be done, and officially completed, but the next big project is still steadfastly refusing to "kick off", namely getting the damn windows replaced. Yep, all gone in the space of a working day. At last, we can let the summer in (for however much longer it's going to last)...

...and I can declare Roof Wars OVER.

It's Monday, so back to work...

Swimming? Check.
Archery? Check.
Cross country equestrian? Check.
Weightlifting? Check...

You get the idea, I suspect. Pity about the gymnastic silver that wasn't - but congrats on the utterly unexpected bronze, Team GB.

The work on the roof is done.

Yes, there's some other associated work to complete, and windows... and paint inside, but the most important element is finished, and the rest can proceed. Thirty-nine days - just under six weeks, instead of the suggested twelve.

I can rest easier - and hopefully drier.

Yup, that's three weeks now, but the slates are here, and the work can forge ahead - just so long as the R-A-I-N stays off. The sooner we can get the structural work sorted, the quicker we can get started on the interior, which seems to be becoming a more and more daunting prospect with every downpour ( Read more... )

Yeah, I got side-tracked. At least the rain stayed off for most of the day, and allowed things to dray out... well, almost not at all. The office corner got worse, but not "puddles on the carpet" worse...

And there goes the FUCKING rain again - and water is now getting through into "The Office" which wasn't in evidence before. Absolutely bloody marvellous.

It might not be a deluge, but the presence of moisture does bugger up the general mood a good deal. At least it's a visible sign of an issue, and that can be traced and dealt with - I hope.
